Tuck vs Raindrop.io: which one to use on iPhone and Mac

Raindrop.io and Tuck both keep the things you save in one searchable place, but they are built on different ideas. Raindrop.io is a cloud bookmark manager that runs everywhere. Tuck is an Apple-only app that keeps your library on your devices and searches inside screenshots and PDFs.

We make Tuck. The facts about Raindrop.io below come from its own help pages and App Store listing as of October 2026.

The short answer

Choose Raindrop.io if you need your library on Windows, Android or the web, want browser extensions, or share collections with other people.

Choose Tuck if you live on iPhone, iPad and Mac, save a lot of screenshots and PDFs, and want to find them by the text inside without an account.

Where Raindrop.io is stronger

  • Everywhere you work. Native apps for Windows and Android, a web app, and extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.
  • Collaboration. You can invite people to a collection and edit it together.
  • Web archive and page search. Pro keeps a permanent copy of saved pages and searches their full text, so a link that disappears is still readable and findable.
  • Imports. It reads exports from Pocket, Instapaper, Pinboard, GoodLinks, Anybox and many more.

Where Tuck is stronger

  • Screenshots are first-class. Tuck reads the text in every screenshot you save to it, on your device. Search “boarding” and you get the boarding pass screenshot. Raindrop.io’s help pages say text inside images is not searchable.
  • Search is free. Searching screenshot text, PDF text, notes and link titles is part of the free plan.
  • No account, no servers of its own. Your library stays on your devices and syncs through your own iCloud. Text recognition and sorting run on device.
  • Rules that file for you (Pro). Give a collection a few keywords and new saves that match land there on their own.

Switching from Raindrop.io to Tuck

  1. In Raindrop.io, export your bookmarks as an HTML file.
  2. In Tuck, open Settings → Import Bookmarks and choose that file.
  3. Choose which folders to import. Each becomes a collection, and a folder with the same name as an existing collection is merged into it unless that collection is locked. Duplicate links are merged.

Uploaded files and screenshots are not part of a bookmarks export, so save those to Tuck from the share sheet or import screenshots from Photos.

The takeaway

If your work spans Windows, Android or a team, Raindrop.io is the practical choice. If your saves are personal, happen on Apple devices, and include screenshots you need to find again, Tuck does that without an account.
